Formula 1 star Carlos Sainz admits that Ferrari's pitstop problems are costing the team crucial points amid their race for 3rd against McLaren in the constructors' championship.

Carlos Sainz has been one of the most consistent drivers on the grid this season—managing to finish within the points in each of the last 10 races. However, Sainz only sits 7th in the Formula 1 world drivers' standings.

He has been rather unfortunate to lose out on some crucial points for himself—as well as the team—amid Ferrari's pit stop struggles as of late. With the recent engine upgrade, the subpar pitstop execution seems to be the only thing holding back Sainz from maximizing his race performances.

Via Dieter Rencken and Keith Collantine of RaceNet:

“The pit stop [was] unfortunate, again,” said Sainz. “We need to keep looking at it and we need to keep improving as a team because we are not happy with the situation.

“It’s been a few pit stops now that we have been struggling with. On my side, I think it’s the second consecutive and the third all season. So it’s quite a lot of points there that we are leaving on the table with these small problems.”

With 5 races left, the Scuderia clearly need to improve on their pitstop execution if they plan on securing a 3rd place finish ahead of McLaren at the end of the season.
