Fortnite News: Tornadoes and Lightning added to the Battle Royale Island

As if the game isn't chaotic enough, Epic Games just decided to add to Fortnite tornadoes and lightning storms to the Battle Royale Island.

Last December 2021, there were rumors about Tornadoes coming into Fortnite’s Battle Royale Island. Apparently, the rumors are true as Epic Games finally adds in both Tornadoes and Lightning in Fortnite. Here’s everything you need to know about the two disastrous kinds of weather coming to Fortnite.

Fortnite Tornadoes

Looks like tornadoes in Fortnite will change the landscape of Battle Royale Island, literally. These enormous twisters will devour any structure and player that stands in its way. As of right now, tornadoes will appear in random parts of the map and remain in one place. We’re not entirely sure if they will be moving across the map in future updates.

These tornadoes may seem very intimidating to players, however, they can actually be quite handy in certain situations. Players simply need to step into the tornado to take flight. They can then use it to either escape a gunfight or push the enemy squad. Keep in mind that if a player stays inside too long, they’ll automatically get spit out of the whirlwind. It’s also worth mentioning that landing on the ground from tornadoes won’t deal any fall damage.

Fortnite Lightning Storms

Honestly, this feature caught us off guard since we were only expecting tornadoes to come all this time. Identifying whether a lightning storm is coming or not is quite easy. If you notice dark clouds starting to swarm the sky, you know what’s coming next. Naturally, players would want to get out of harm's way once they see lightning bolts striking the island. However, getting struck by lightning doesn’t seem too bad in Fortnite at least. If you end up getting zapped, players will only receive minimal damage. The best part about getting zapped is the fact that players will get a temporary speed buff. It’s basically like eating chili pepper with the cost of a few health points. Just make sure you have enough health before deliberately getting struck by lightning.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 just keeps on getting more exciting every passing update. It makes us wonder what else Epic Games has in store for us in the coming updates. For now, let’s bask in the newly added features in Fortnite.
