Epic Games continues its string of Fortnite movie crossovers. Previously, Fortnite featured cosmetics and items based on the Tron movie franchise. Now, players can purchase packs and cosmetics hailing directly from the sci-fi movie franchise, Alien. Classic Nostromo Crew Outfit Ripley and the iconic Xenomorph are now both available for purchase.
A ROYALE WITH ALIENS
The Alien Crossover adds a special Space Gear Bundle to the Fortnite store. The themed Bundle includes the P-500 Power Loader Arm Pickaxe, the Cheyenne Dropship Glider, and a new Emote.
The addition of cosmetics themed after Terminator, Tron, and Alien points towards Epic Games' conscious decision to parade around the biggest sci-fi franchises from the late '70s and '80s. Additionally, it's exciting to anticipate which film franchise graces the Battle Royale platform next.
Films aren't the only franchises on the crossover list. Recently, special Street Fighter cosmetics patterned after Chun-Li and Ryu found their way to the Fortnite storefront. Ultimately, the Fortnite Battle Royale world has become the defacto stage for crossovers from nearly any genre of pop culture imaginable. Games oftentimes hold special crossovers but Epic Games actively seeks out new franchises to adopt.
Undoubtedly, Epic Games have more exciting franchise crossovers planned for their flagship game. These crossovers serve as fun new diversions in the same old games we know and love. The Battle Royale formula has been done time and again but the crossovers add extra flavor to the titles. Additionally, Fortnite continues to work towards strengthening the player base for its PvE game mode, Save the World.
