Deadline.com reports that entertainment conglomerate Fox has ordered a pilot of Blake Griffin‘s animated comedic series Okies of Bel Air.

The high-flying big man is known for his penchant for comedy and humor, having performed stand-up gigs during his spare time.

Written by The Late Late Shows' Sean O'Conner, the series borrows elements from executive producer Blake Griffin's life.

Reminiscent of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and the Beverly Hillbillies, Okies of Bel Air follows a rustic family from Oklahoma forced to uproot and move to Bel Air when their son is drafted 1st in the NBA Draft.

This is similar to Griffin's own journey from Oklahoma to California when he was drafted 1st by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2009.

With rumors that the Oklahoma City Thunder will make a play for Griffin this summer, having his animated series picked up by a major network could give the former slam dunk champ an incentive to stay close to Hollywood.
