The Cleveland Browns came up short in their grudge match against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13. As a result, head coach Freddie Kitchens has had to acknowledge his hot seat going into the 2019 NFL season.

It's no secret that Cleveland has fallen vastly short of expectations after all the hype they generated in the offseason. Regardless, Kitchens is not concerned about his job security beyond this season.

Via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the question of his job security came up at Monday’s press conference. And while Kitchens told reporters that he’s not concerned about his job status, he probably should be.

Although Kitchens' comments hardly come as any surprise, it would be far-fetched to assume that they were not weighing in the back of his mind. After all, he fully embraced the expectations that came with the job once the Browns managed to shore up even more firepower before the 2019 campaign.

Among the notable additions was that of wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Cleveland made quite the investment to make him the No. 1 option in the passing game. However, he is in the midst of his worst statistical year yet.

Meanwhile, the development of quarterback Baker Mayfield has seemingly regressed the more time he has spent under center. Much of the promise he showed as a rookie has been firmly replaced by his lackluster performance this season.

While the Browns have not been officially eliminated from playoff contention, there is little to suggest that they are about to kickstart a potential resurgence. It will be interesting to see if the front office ultimately opts to part ways with Kitchens and provide Mayfield with his fourth head coach in three years.
