Gardevoir will be Pokemon Unite‘s first additional character outside the launch roster. They will be the sixth “ranged attacker” in the game, alongside Pikachu, Greninja, Venusaur, Alolan Ninetales, Cramorant, and Cinderace. Most of their attacks fit in with their Psychic type themes from the main Pokemon games. They will become playable tomorrow, July 28.

Gardevoir was also a playable character in the Pokemon Unite mobile Open Beta, so them making it into the game was only a matter of time. Additonally, their moveset is pretty familiar to veterans already. Their Unite Move, called Fairy Singularity, draws enemies into an area. It functions similarly to Zarya's Graviton Surge from Overwatch, or Enigma's Black Hole from Dota 2.

Pokemon Unite announced Gardevoir's addition earlier in June. They were shown alongisde Blastoise, who will be the next addtion to the playable roster. A third mystery Pokemon was also hinted at in the same announcement, but they are yet to be revealed.

Pokemon Unite is the popular franchise's first foray into the MOBA genre. Currently, it features 20 playable characters. The game is free-to-play, but also features microtransactions for cosmetics and in-game currency, which players can use to purchase new characters. It features the three-lane, objective-based gameplay mechanics that are staples of the genre, while featuring iconic Pokemon and their movesets. Tencent Games' TiMi Studio Group and The Pokemon Company partnered together to develop the game.

Currently, Pokemon Unite is only available on the Nintendo Switch. However, it will also be making its way to mobile platforms this September.
