Wales international Gareth Bale enjoyed a relatively decent loan spell at his former club Tottenham last term, bagging 11 goals and tallying two assists in 20 Premier League appearances.

However, it does seem likely that he will return to Real Madrid for the final year of his lucrative contract with the Spanish giants. His agent, Jonathan Barnett, has made it clear that Spurs do not have an option to re-sign him for a second season, per the Evening Standard.

Gareth Bale's future certainly still remains unclear. But, with Carlo Ancelotti taking over the reins at the Bernabeu for Zinedine Zidane, the Welshman could have the opportunity to play a part in the Madrid squad next season. Ancelotti, who was in the dugout at Everton in 2020/21, said he has “lots of love” for Bale and believes he can find success at Real if he is “motivated”.

That remains to be seen though. Gareth Bale wasn't the most well-liked figure in the Spanish capital and he certainly didn't get along too well with Zidane. But, with a new gaffer coming in, it could be a different story.

As for Tottenham, they're still searching for a new manager while worrying about the future of star hitman Harry Kane, who has expressed his desire to leave the club. With Gareth Bale's spell in North London also coming to a close, Spurs have a lot to figure out in the next month before the Premier League campaign begins in August.
