One of the last few elements among the Hypostasis family in Genshin Impact finally makes an appearance – the Pyro Hypostasis. Known as “Ayin”, this sentient elemental poses a serious challenge. Only those prepared for this fight can have the chance to obtain its precious rewards. The Pyro Hypostasis drops the Smoldering Pearl, an ascension material for Yoimiya, an upcoming 5-star character in the next character banner.

Where to Find the Pyro Hypostasis

As with most Hypostases, the Pyro Hypostasis can be found within an open area. Ideally, you first want to unlock the second Shrine of the Seven in Inazuma, which uncovers the area of Kannazuka on your map. The arena can be found on the northeastern island beside Kujou Encampment, which is easily accessible by foot. You can refer to your map and find the slightly-burnt out portion of the island to find the Pyro Hypostasis waiting for you there.

Preparing for the Fight

One of the most important mechanics for this fight is dealing with the Pyro shield during its Ignited phase. Only Hydro and Cryo attacks are able to deplete this shield, but it’s better to rely on Hydro. Using just Cryo significantly makes the fight longer and exhausting. Ideal characters for the role are Xingqiu, Mona, Barbara, and Childe. These characters can easily deplete the boss’ shield, which will put the boss into the Extinguished phase.

If you find yourself having a hard time surviving the boss, crafting a Heatshield potion can help mitigate most of the damage you’ll be taking. Using consumables that buff your team’s offense and defense are also great, especially if you want an easy time beating the boss. Aside from that, make sure you have a healer or a shielder in your team, and a good DPS character, and then you’re set to fight the Hypostasis.

Fighting the Pyro Hypostasis

Genshin Impact‘s Pyro Hypostasis

Genshin Impact‘s Pyro Hypostasis has two phases, Ignited and Extinguished. When the fight begins, the boss starts off with the Ignited phase. It has a Pyro Shield that’s only affected by Hydro or Cryo. In this phase, the core never becomes vulnerable, and the only way to progress is by depleting the shield.

During the Ignited phase, the boss has three moves:

Rolling Ball: The Pyro Hypostasis turns into a rolling ball and rolls toward the player while maintaining a circular path. To avoid this, dash sideways and past the ball. The attack has quite the misleading hitbox, being larger than it visually seems. Dashing towards the charging ball will let you get past its hitbox more reliably.

Forward Dash: The Pyro Hypostasis transforms into a flaming creature, and dashes towards the player. Simply sidestep this with a well-timed dash.

Flaming Fist: The Pyro Hypostasis transforms into a fist and slams the ground, delivering a concentric shockwave of fire around the location. A lengthy dash away from the location is usually the safer option. But if you're a pro at Genshin Impact, you can I-frame the attack if you think you’ve got the skills.

How to beat the Pyro Hypostasis in Genshin Impact

Once its shield is depleted, the Pyro Hypostasis goes into the Extinguished phase. Now its attacks will cause the boss’ core to become vulnerable, allowing for a damage window for players to attack. Nevertheless, the boss will also occasionally summon fire seeds to absorb, reigniting the boss back to the Ignited phase. You need to destroy these fire seeds using Hydro/Cryo in order to delay the reignition. There will be an icon beside the boss HP bar, which indicates its progress towards reignition.

During the Extinguished phase, the boss will perform different attacks that are very easy to avoid, but will consequently leave the core vulnerable. During this time, Travelers will be able to directly damage the boss’ HP. If the Pyro Hypostasis gathers enough fire seeds, it will reignite and return to the Ignited phase, in which players will have another full shield to deplete again.

Genshin Impact‘s Pyro Hypostasis is no pushover, but as long as players have the right counter for its shield and fire seeds, beating this boss will be like a walk in the park.
