Genshin Impact’s latest special program has revealed a whole slew of brand-new content, events, and freebies, which travelers can enjoy in the coming weeks. The introduction of the new Inazuma island, Tsurumi Island, is a major part of the next content update. Players will need to explore this treacherous land in order to reap its hidden treasures and learn its unsettling history. As usual, every new area introduces new monsters that wander the place, but the new enemies in Tsurumi Island may be one of the most dangerous ones to date.

Genshin Impact 2.2, Rockfond Rifthound

Within Tsurumi Island lives a type of enemy called the Rifthound, a hovering lupine-like creature, that deals Elemental damage with their swiping and striking attacks. There are pups called Rifthound Whelps, which are smaller variants of the adult Rifthounds, and have presumably weaker attacks. There are also two elemental types of Rifthounds, one called Rockfond Rifthounds that deal Geo damage, and another called Thundercraven Rifthounds that deal Electro damage. These creatures can also turn invisible, similar to Fatui Agents, and can easily strike players unsuspected.

One of the most important distinctions that make this enemy formidable, is the presence of the Corrosion debuff. When Rifthounds hit an active character, they inflict the Corrosion debuff for a set duration, which continuously drains the HP of all party members over time. This damage can’t be blocked by any kind of shield, and must be healed to mitigate the damage taken. This can notably affect the prevalence of dedicated shielders, like Diona or Zhongli, and can force players to bring healers when fighting Rifthounds.

Similar to what happened in Version 2.0 and 2.1, these new enemies in Tsurumi Island have a good chance of appearing in the next version of Spiral Abyss. Preparing well-built dedicated healers to combat this corrosion effect will surely be worth it for the time being.
