A brand-new festival approaches the horizon as miHoYo premiered the exciting new activities for Genshin Impact version 1.4. In Invitation of Windblume, we will see the return of well-loved characters and a revamp of Mondstadt. You better prepare yourself, because version 1.4 will come with myriads of interactive events, and tons of mini-games. There are also new characters, weapons, and bosses. The Archon Quest main storyline will finally continue on, along with some new story quests for specific characters. Finally, there will be fantastic quality-of-life changes, and most importantly, a truckload of rewards!
In version 1.4, there's more focus on the land of freedom and romance, Mondstadt. This new Mondstadt brings grand festivities along with a beautiful new look similar to what we’ve seen recently in Liyue. See everything you have to know when Genshin Impact version 1.4 arrives on March 17, 2021.
GENSHIN IMPACT VERSION 1.4 BRINGS IN ROSARIA, THE THORNY BENEVOLENCE
At long last, Rosaria has arrived and she’s ready to fill the niche as a cryo polearm user, which is one of a kind. She is a 4-star character, so don’t worry because you're most likely will be able to get her easily.
In combat, Rosaria’s Elemental Skill deals direct cryo damage and allows her to dash behind small foes. Her Elemental Burst, on the other hand, deals massive cryo damage in a large area when she strikes the ground. The cryo field she creates deals damage over time. Going over her talents, her first talent provides your party with a sweet 10% Movement Speed bonus when exploring at night. Her second talent provides Rosaria with an increased crit rate when using her Skill. Her third and final talent gives everyone else in your party with increased crit rate when she uses her Burst. With all of this info, Rosaria appears to be a very versatile character, as she can easily be built as a main DPS, a secondary DPS, or even as an elemental reaction support.
VENTI AND CHILDE RETURNS IN VERSION 1.4
Venti and Childe (or Tartaglia, if you will) are coming back in Genshin Impact version 1.4! Venti’s re-run banner, Ballad in Goblets, will arrive first, coming at the same time as the start of the new version on March 17. A lot of players have been waiting for a Venti re-run and to no surprise. Venti is an extremely powerful support character due to his immense crowd control and unique Skill, Skyward Sonnet. Following this is another important re-run banner, Farewell of Snezhnaya, which contains Childe. Childe's banner is where you will get Rosaria, whom we've discussed above. This is a great opportunity to get Rosaria while also gunning for Childe. While we know when Venti's re-run banner will start, we don't know yet when it'll end and bring in Childe's banner.
NEW WEAPONS, ARCHON QUEST, AND BOSS BATTLE
Also arriving with the upcoming banners are brand-new weapons to gear up your characters or experiment with new builds. There are no confirmed details or stats for these weapons yet, but so far, we’re getting a 5-star bow, Elegy for the End, a 4-star sword, The Alley Flash, a 4-star bow, Alley Hunter, and a 4-star catalyst, Wine and Song.
Coming along with Genshin Impact version 1.4 is a continuation of the game’s storyline, which is a brand new Archon Quest. Dainsleif appears again to guide our characters further into the Abyss Order’s world, discover their plans, and even reveal the secrets behind Teyvat’s first Ruin Guard. Somewhere within the story, players will encounter a new boss-type monster, the Abyss Herald. From the looks of it, this new encounter will definitely set a challenge to players wanting to fight this mysterious foe.
CELEBRATE THE WINDBLUME FESTIVAL IN MONDSTADT!
Speaking of events, buckle up because there’s a lot of content coming our way once Genshin Impact version 1.4 arrives.
Let’s start off with the first one, the Windblume Festival, which is an event story. Not much has been said about this yet. What we know so far is that we can choose an offering for the Anemo Archon to progress with the event story quests.
There will also be three interesting mini-games matching the festive mood in Mondstadt.
- Bullseye Balloons – players will shoot floating balloons in the air using their preferred bow character.
- Floral Freefall – players gather points by gliding into Flower Balls floating in the air.
- Ballads of Breeze – you play a rhythm game where you press the corresponding button when the displayed ring hits the circle, and you gain points for hitting the notes accurately.
Completing these mini-games reward you with two special gadgets. First is the Windblume Festival Commemorative Balloon, which is a balloon similar to the ones in the mini-game. It can be deployed and popped to create a festive explosion. The second is the Windsong Lyre. If you ever wanted to create tunes and melodies in Genshin Impact, this is the gadget for you. This lyre allows the player to play notes in succession, and can also be used in Co-op, which allows players to create beautiful melodies and songs together.
PECULIAR WONDERLAND AND HANGOUT EVENTS
Last for Genshin Impact version 1.4 is the Peculiar Wonderland event. Here, players will encounter platformer-like challenges that will provide buffs for them to use for the final boss. Be careful, because the challenges you will encounter will be randomized from a set of gauntlets, and the buffs you receive depend on how well you performed in every encounter.
From these Windblume Festival event quests, players will obtain Peculiar Collab Coupons and Festive Tour Tickets, which can be exchanged for tons of rewards, including a fully refined 4-star Windblume Ode and up to 1000 primogems.
Also arriving in Genshin Impact version 1.4 is a new type of permanent gameplay, Hangout Events. Players can spend Story Keys on one of four characters, and spend time with them to unlock their story and obtain rewards. These aren’t your ordinary story quests, though, because you get to choose different dialogue options that can result in a different outcome. Think about your story quest with Lisa early on in the game.
This gameplay is similar to dating sims, and players can obtain rewards by trying different dialogue routes. Certain routes provide you with Hangout Memories, which is a collection of illustrations reminding you of the precious moments you had with the characters. For now, the characters available are Barbara, Noelle, Chongyun, and Bennett, with more characters to come in the future.
WISHFUL DROPS, RAGING RHODEIA, AND CONTENDING TIDES ARRIVES IN GENSHIN IMPACT VERSION 1.4
There’s another event coming in the next update, called Wishful Drops. Featured in this new event is a small pet-like Oceanid, who managed to find its way from the Nation of Water towards Monstadt, accidentally creating a wine industry crisis in the process. Hence, players will partner with little Oceanid, explore open-world areas, and absorb Oceanid creatures for your little Oceanid's growth. Once you have absorbed enough creatures, the little Oceanid gets added to your inventory as a pet, like the mini-Seelies from before.
Along with this event, players will encounter the revamped boss, Raging Rhodeia. In this fight, you will encounter the Oceanid boss, although not with the summoned water creatures. This time, you will be able to deal damage directly against the boss, but with more mechanics and a generally tougher fight than before. To help you obtain more rewards, your little Oceanid pet will unlock more rewards if it has absorbed enough creatures during your explorations.
The final event to be released for Genshin Impact version 1.4 is titled, Contending Tides. This event will be located at Dadaupa Gorge’s Meaty Arena, where all the fighting will take place. Combat challenges will be added daily from the first day of the event, with varying rewards depending on the difficulty. Each challenge will have its own criteria for completion, and achieving them all is required to complete it.
GENSHIN IMPACT VERSION 1.4 QUALITY-OF-LIFE CHANGES
To top it all off, coming in the new version are important Quality-of-Life updates to improve the players’ experiences.
- You can now hold up to five Condensed Resin
- Recipes that have auto-cook unlocked can also be cooked manually
- Cooking, crafting, and forging actions are now optimized
- World Level can be manually lowered by 1
- Players can now display multiple name cards on their profiles
- Players will also find that the Spiral Abyss interface optimized
