After playing five seasons with the Indiana Pacers and hoping to finish his career in his hometown, George Hill was caught off-guard after being traded to the Utah Jazz back in July.

He was part of the three-team deal that sent the 12th pick of this year's draft to the Atlanta Hawks and Jeff Teague to the Pacers.

Hill is now expected to start at the point for his new team and backed-up by Dante Exum who had just recovered from a knee injury that kept him sidelined through all of last season.

With just three weeks before the start of training camp, there's still a lot of uncertainty about his tenure in Salt Lake City especially since his current contract is set to expire after the 2016-2017 season. Although he is already eligible to sign an extension this October, the Jazz have not extended an offer yet as they obviously would like to see how the 30-year-old will fit within their team.

Speaking to the Salt Lake Tribune's Tony Jones on Saturday, the former 26th overall pick of the 2008 draft discussed his thoughts on his current contract situation and what his focus is coming into the next season:

“I haven't really talked about that much with anyone, my whole focus is to come in here and be the best player that I can possibly be. I feel that the contract situation will work itself out, once you do that.”

The Jazz faithful will be happy to know that their new point guard has a positive mindset and wants to contribute right away for their team that has acquired key pieces this summer and is expected to compete in the tough Western Conference.

With career averages of 11.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 28.8 minutes per game, the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis product will be one of the veteran leaders of this young team. His experiences from past seasons and his appearances in the playoffs will be a welcome addition to the Jazz who are hoping to have a winning tradition once again.
