Germaine de Randamie was supposed to be competing at UFC 268 against knockout artist Irene Aldana.

ESPN Deportes reports that an undisclosed injury has forced De Randamie to pull out of the scheduled fight. The bantamweight contender was hoping to start a winning streak and compete for the bantamweight title again.

It's unclear if Irene Aldana is staying on the card or if she will be moved to a different one. Aldana had quite the last fight herself, knocking out Yana Kunitskaya in the first round of UFC 264.

Germaine de Randamie last fought against Julianna Pena, beating her by submission in the third round of their bout. Before that, de Randamie competed against the champion Amanda Nunes.

She would lose that fight by decision after Nunes put on a wrestling clinic. A rematch is unlikely as de Randamie has now lost two fights to the champion, losing back in late 2013.

UFC 268 still has an important bantamweight fight left on it as Amanda Nunes is taking Julianna Pena in her first bantamweight title defense since beating de Randamie back in 2019. The belt hadn't been defended in almost two years but it didn't cause a log jam of contenders in the bantamweight division.

Germaine de Randamie has previously been the women's featherweight champion before Cyborg Justino and Amanda Nunes took over. Her time as champion was considered controversial due to many factors.

De Randamie had refused to defend the title against Cyborg claiming she was taking steroids. The fight itself was controversial too, many had Holly Holm winning on their scorecard and de Randamie landed punches after the bell in two rounds.

A timetable for Germaine de Randamie's return is unknown at this time considering the recency of the injury. Aldana is still waiting to find out if she is still competing on the card.
