The Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut features an expanded experience for 2020's breakout samurai action-adventure. A few weeks later will follow the release of its standalone multiplayer mode – Ghost of Tsushima: Legends.

When is Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut coming out?

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut releases this week on August 20, 2021. Its major new feature is the Iki Island expansion, which will bring a new zone to explore, with its own story, sidequests and characters. The official PlayStation Blog post on the story gives us more details:

“Jin’s journey begins when he discovers that a mysterious Mongol tribe has gained a foothold on Iki. They are led by a revered shaman called Ankhsar Khatun, known to her followers as “the Eagle.” As both a khatun and a shaman, she is not only a conqueror of nations, but a shepherd of souls. And the danger she presents to Jin and his people is unlike any they have faced.”

Aside from the expanded zone and story, it will also feature new armor, mini-games, techniques, and enemy types. PS5 owners will also enjoy haptic feedback, native 4K resolution, and Japanese lip-sync.

Additionally, it will come with a slew of free quality-of-life improvements for all owners of the game – even the base edition. One of these free features is target lock-on, a much-requested feature since the game's launch.
