The New York Giants are coming off of an ugly Week 1 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in which their defense struggled to get a stop all afternoon during a 35-17 rout.

But now, the Giants will be heading back to the Meadowlands for their home opener, as they will play host to the Buffalo Bills this Sunday.

The Bills are 1-0 after rallying to defeat the New York Jets in the very same MetLife Stadium last Sunday, so they are coming in on a good note.

New York is looking to avoid falling into an 0-2 hole, as only nine percent of NFL teams that lose their first two games end up making the playoffs.

So, here are four predictions for the Giants ahead of their Week 2 matchup:

4. Saquon Barkley will Touch the Ball More

I'm not sure how “bold” this is, seeing as how Saquon Barkley only accrued 15 total touches in Week 1, but an increase seems likely to happen.

Barkley carried the ball 11 times for 120 yards and caught four passes for 19 yards against the Cowboys, which led to a whole lot of criticism of Pat Shurmur from fans and the media.

To be fair to Shurmur, the Giants fell behind early, and pounding the ball with Barkley in Week 1 and potentially burning him out definitely would have not been the best solution.

Still, with the Bills coming off of a 2018 campaign in which they ranked first in the NFL in pass defense but 16th against the run, it seems almost inevitable that New York will hand the ball to Barkley more in Week 2.

3. Eli Manning will be Efficient

In the midst of the Giants' disastrous Week 1 performance, Eli Manning actually played pretty well, completing 30 of his 44 passes for 306 yards and a touchdown.

Now, this week, Manning likely won't be able to get too creative, as the Bills' pass defense is fierce, but that doesn't mean he can't be efficient.

Expect a lot of passes to Barkley and a decent amount of slant routes from Sterling Shepard and tight end Evan Engram.

Remember: Golden Tate is unavailable for the first four games, so Manning is still short on weapons, but Shurmur will likely design a lot of play calls to cater to the circumstances.

2. The Defense will Play Better

I mean, the Giants' defense can't go anywhere but up, right?

Luckily, this time around, New York is playing a Bills team whose offense is not nearly as high-powered as that of the Cowboys, and the Giants are at home, so they should be able to catch a bit of a break here.

Perhaps the Giants will actually get to the quarterback this time, as they failed to register a single sack in Week 1.

But put it this way: I highly doubt Josh Allen will be throwing for 405 yards and four touchdowns like Dak Prescott did this past weekend.

Look for a much better, cleaner effort from New York's defense as a whole.

1. The Giants will Win a Low-Scoring Affair

Neither of these teams are exactly offensive juggernauts, so it would not be the least bit surprising if neither team scores 20 points (they both scored 17 in their season openers).

With the Giants being at home and in desperate need of a win, I'm giving the edge to them.

Whoever wins the turnover battle may very well end up winning this game, and Buffalo seems more prone to giveaways then New York.

I'm rolling with the team with the veteran quarterback rather than the one that is still yet to really prove himself.
