New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has been the starter for the team all season despite various rumors that team would be moving in another direction regarding the position. Manning appears to be on track to finish out the season that ended in disappointment for the Giants.

According to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, Shurmur provided some insight in regards to Eli's starting job and whether he's thought about Eli starting Week 17.

“No, not really. Eli’s our starter, Eli gives us our best chance to win and he’s going to play on Sunday,” Shurmur said, via Ralph Vacchiano of SNY. “I think when the game is over we start talking in depth about what’s gonna happen moving forward, that’s when you worry about that. You’re talking to the coach, I’m worried about the game.”

Alper further explained the state of Manning's season so far and how he has performed much better since the team moved on from previous head coach Ben McAdoo.

“Manning has been better this season than he was in the two years that Ben McAdoo coached the team, but it hasn’t resulted in markedly better results for the team. He’ll also be 38 next week so the question of what’s next is one that the team will have to contemplate in the near future, but there haven’t been many signs from inside the Giants that they are dead set on moving on without Manning.”

Manning has to be more focused on finishing out this season rather than next season's uncertainty, but as of right now Manning is the team's best bet at the quarterback position.
