Odell Beckham Jr. signed a four-year deal with the New York Giants right after he was drafted by the team in 2014. That was supposed to expire next year, but Beckham will remain under contract with the Giants for the entire 2018 season after New York picked up its fifth-year option on the wide receiver back in April.

Beckham is expecting a huge deal the next time he signs a contract, but an ankle injury that will keep him out for the rest of this season is seen by some as a hindrance in the wide receiver’s dream of achieving the maximum amount he can get on the negotiation table.

However, Giants co-owner John Mara recently assured that Beckham’s injury won't be an obstacle for the wideout to get an extension deal with the team while speaking at the NFL’s Fall League Meeting on Wednesday, according to Kevin Patra of NFL.com.

“I don't think it will have any effect because I think he's going to make a full recovery,” Mara said.

Mara further comforted any nagging worries from Beckham’s camp with regards to his future with the team by saying that he’s willing to give Beckham a new deal even before the LSU product becomes 100 percent healthy.

“I don't necessarily think so because I think our medical people feel pretty strongly that he'll make a full recovery. Knowing him, he will work so hard to get back, he has so much pride,” he said.

Beckham has been the Giants' most dangerous offensive weapon over the past few years, but he won’t be able to help his team get out of the 1-5 hole it is in right now after undergoing a surgery to repair a fractured ankle.

Beckham is set to cash in $8.4 million next season and is looking to get significantly more the next time he and his agent set up contract talks with the Giants’ upper management.
