The New York Giants are not expected to contend for a NFC East crown in the upcoming 2019 campaign. However, New York encountered a bit of good fortune when the 2019 schedules were formally released by the NFL this past week.

After October 27, the Giants will make only one road trip longer than 227 miles. The 227-mile mark notably comes into play for the Giants with New York visiting the rival Washington Redskins on Sunday, December 22. With that matchup setting the bar in terms of mileage, the Giants' only road trip longer than that will come against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, November 24.

The team's October 27 matchup will come on the road against the Detroit Lions. Chicago is the only moderately long trip after that visit to Detroit.

The Giants, though not slated to be a top team in the NFC, have remained quite busy this offseason. In addition to parting with All-Pro wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who is now a member of the up-and-coming Cleveland Browns, the Giants also locked up fellow wide out Sterling Shepard while signing free agent wide receiver Golden Tate as well.

It is also worth noting that New York will likely remain busy through the month of April; the 2019 NFL Draft now looms large. The lowly Giants currently own not one but two first-round draft picks, with the two slots coming at No. 6 and No. 17 overall.
