The New York Giants continue to scour the league to complete their coaching roster. One of the men they hoped to get to complete the team was Brian Daboll. However, the Buffalo Bills didn't allow the opportunity to interview him for the position of the Giants' offensive coordinator.

Daboll, who is currently working as the offensive coordinator for the Bills, is one of the reasons why they managed to make the wild card round this season. It's understandable why the Giants would be interested in letting him have a crack at developing Daniel Jones.

However, SNY's Ralph Vacchiano revealed that his knack for developing young quarterbacks isn't the only reason why rookie head coach Joe Judge is interested in acquiring his services.

Daboll was an offensive assistant and the tight ends coach for the Patriots while Judge coached their special teams. He left to join Nick Saban's staff in Alabama as the co-offensive coordinator in 2017 and helped the Tide to a national championship, before returning to the NFL with the Bills in 2018. He has been an offensive coordinator with four NFL teams – the Bills, Chiefs, Dolphins, and Browns. He was also the Jets quarterbacks coach in 2007-08 under Eric Mangini.

Had the Bills allowed their OC to get in touch with his former New England colleague, they could have built an exciting offense around Jones and Saquon Barkley. The way Bill Belichick talked about Judge after he completed his move to the Giants should be an encouraging sign for hopeful fans.

“Joe has done an outstanding job,” Belichick said, via the Giants. “He's an excellent coach. He understands the game well, works extremely hard and is a very good teacher of fundamentals. Joe picks up concepts and coaching points quickly. He is an exceptional leader and one of the best coaches I have been around.”

Now that Daboll is out of the picture, the Giants are reportedly moving to secure the services of former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett.
