Daniel Jones hasn't even taken a snap, and expectations are already sky-high for the New York Giants rookie who is being set up to follow Eli Manning as Big Blue's quarterback. That's the hand he was dealt when New York shockingly took him with the sixth overall pick in last month's draft.

Fortunately for Jones, he won't have to play right away. The plan is for him to sit and develop behind Eli Manning, so he'll have some time. Speaking to the media after an OTA practice Tuesday, Jones talked about what he's been learning from Manning, via Ralph Vacchiano of SNY.

Jones said that while Manning is a valuable source on the field, watching him off of it might be even more beneficial.

“Yeah I think you can learn a lot from him on the field, obviously from a scheme standpoint he’s done it for a long time he knows that stuff, but to me I think a lot of it is in his routine and his daily preparation, and how he prepares for practice, how he reviews practice, how he learns from practice. I think just that routine and learning from that, being able to watch him everyday, to me has been the most helpful.”

“It’s consistent, he does the same thing, the way he’ll prepare with the script, the way he’ll go through all of his assignments,” he continued.

Preparing is a huge part of being a quarterback in the NFL, and there's so much more that goes into it than what we see between the lines. It's good to see the rookie understand and embrace that.

There was so much debate over whether the Giants could've gotten Jones later in the first round, to the point that nobody has really been talking about Jones himself. There are a lot of skeptics, and a lot of people he needs to prove wrong.

He'll be under a microscope playing in the New York media market, and every step he takes will be heavily scrutinized. So far, he's done a pretty good job handling it and saying all the right things. None of it will really matter, though, once we see him on the field.
