When the New York Giants took Duke quarterback Daniel Jones with the sixth overall pick of the NFL Draft back in April, the vast majority of fans and media pundits wondered just what the Giants were doing.

Jones over Dwayne Haskins? Really?

Well, now, doubters seem to be beginning to change their tune, as ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting that even Jones' biggest skeptics are saying he has looked great this offseason:

“What's interesting to me is that even the skeptics about taking Daniel Jones at No. 6 overall are now, after watching him, saying he's the real deal,” Mortensen said on ESPN's Get Up! this week. “Jones has been so good this offseason, but go back to that Dave Gettleman line where we heard — kind of like that Kansas City model. I think they believe they're going to be a run-oriented team and their offensive line is going to be much improved.”

Mortensen added that all of the experience Jones had at Duke may give him an edge over guys like Haskins and Kyler Murray, both of whom only had one full season as a starter at their respective schools.

So, does that mean Jones could end up winning the Giants starting job? Not so fast.

Mortensen says that Eli Manning will still probably open the season under center, which hardly comes as a surprise, as Manning was expected to play out the final year of his deal with New York before Jones officially took the reins next season.

Regardless, this is obviously very encouraging news for Giants fans.
