The referees picked up the flag, then put it down. That gesture late on Sunday's game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Giants made the difference in the outcome of the match. Initially throwing down the flag for pass interference, the refs overturned the call, preventing Daniel Jones and the Giants a chance to tie the game and force the overtime period, and it got an interesting reaction from head coach Joe Judge.

Judge obviously thought the officials made the wrong call, which would have sent the game into extra session had the referees not changed their minds initially. Quarterback Daniel Jones also believes the call should have gone their way.

Referee Brad Rogers gave his official verdict on the non-call that became a heated topic of debate among football fans on social media.

Joe Judge certainly wasn't pleased as he berated the officials after the two-point loss.

To recall, Tampa Bay cornerback Antoine Winfield Jr. broke up Daniel Jones' two-point attempt to Dion Lewis. However, the referees' final decision, which initially seemed to go the Giants' way, ended up costing them the game. Now, instead of getting the chance to notch its second win of the season, New York went 1-7 after Sunday night.

Nonetheless, Joe Judge didn't blame the loss solely on the controversial call. New York raced out to a 14-3 lead late in the first half, before the Bucs came back and took the lead early in the fourth quarter off a Mike Evans touchdown. The Giants found it hard to recover from two costly Daniel Jones interceptions in the second half that translated to 10 points for the Buccaneers.
