The status of New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has been a roller coaster. Jones went from being expected to miss time to practicing and having a chance to suit up for Sunday's game against the Miam Dolphins. The Giants released the official status of Jones on Friday.

It appears that talk of Jones possibly taking the field this Sunday was premature, as he was ultimately ruled out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.

That will leave backup Mike Glennon, who threw for 196 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in relief of Jones earlier this year for New York against the Dallas Cowboys, as the team's starter versus a surging Dolphins team.

Giants head coach Joe Judge spoke about Jones, who wasn't cleared for contact, saying that the decision to bench him was in the best interest of his health. The third-year pro has dealt with a concussion and now this neck issue, so the Giants are looking to be careful with his upper-body moving forward.

Sitting at 4-7, the Giants don't have a whole lot to play for in the remainder of this year, so it makes sense to preserve the health of Daniel Jones, especially if they view him as their franchise guy.

As for Sunday against the Dolphins, Giants fans will have to hope that Mike Glennon is up to the task of running New York's offense.
