New York Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones had what was easily the worst game of his young NFL career against the New England Patriots on Thursday night, completing just 15 of his 31 passes for 161 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions.

Afterward, Jones said he was not overwhelmed by playing the Patriots in Foxborough, saying it was simply a bad performance:

“I don't think so,” Jones said when asked whether or not the moment was too big, via Ralph Vacchiano of SNY. “I didn't play well by any means. I don't mean to confuse that. But I don't think it was overwhelming. I think it was just bad plays, bad decisions.”

Through five appearances and four starts this season, Jones has thrown for 921 yards, five touchdowns and six picks while completing 60.7 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 74.1. He has also scored a pair of rushing touchdowns.

Jones, who played his collegiate football at Duke, was selected by the Giants with the sixth overall pick of the NFL Draft back in April, a decision that was widely criticized due to the fact that Ohio State's Dwayne Haskins was still on the board at the time.

Haskins then falling to the division rival Washington Redskins at No. 15 further fanned those flames.

However, up until Thursday evening, Jones had looked very impressive over his first several starts, particularly in his first start in Week 3, when he led the Giants back from a 28-10 deficit against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and came away with a thrilling win.

New York will head back home to host the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday.
