When the New York Giants took Duke quarterback Daniel Jones with the sixth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, it shocked many.

Although there’s still shock within the NFL world, Jones has now been getting more and more reps during the Giants offseason program, and has said that acclimating to life as an NFL quarterback is getting easier.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the quarterback position for the Giants, Jones has reportedly impressed many with his OTA and minicamp practices, and is now much more confident.

Speaking to NJ.com about his experiences, Jones said he’s begun getting quicker with the ball, and his mind.

“I think just thinking quicker,” Jones said. “That’s the challenge for young guys to be able of react and just play. It’s about thinking as quick as you can and making the right decision as quick as you can. I’m just working on that,” he said, while acknowledging the main hardships of playing quarterback. “I think that’s the challenge. That’s the biggest part of playing the position, making the right decision as quick as you can. I’m just trying to do that.”

It’s still unknown just what Jones’ future with the Giants will hold, especially when it comes to playing time. While the Giants have committed to Eli Manning as their starter for 2019, it’s possible that Jones gets a chance to show off why he’s worthy of a top 10 pick sometime this year.

While most of those chances might end up coming in the preseason, Jones seems like he’ll be ready whenever his number is called, and will continue looking to improve.
