New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones' status remains unclear ahead of a Week 15 showdown with the Cleveland Browns.

The Giants are trying to be cautious with Jones, who is still dealing with a lower leg issue first sustained during the team's Week 12 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Head coach Joe Judge indicated the team is still monitoring Jones, but also said he would want to start if “his arm was attached by a rubber band,” per Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com.

Jones returned under center this past weekend against the Arizona Cardinals after missing the team's surprising victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 13. But things did not go as planned.

The 23-year-old completed just 11 of 21 passes for 127 yards. Jones was sacked six times and had three total fumbles, losing one of those. It seems he also aggravated the leg.

This is tough timing for the Giants.

New York is one game behind the Washington Football Team for the top spot in the NFC East. They also have to take on a Cleveland Browns offense coming off an explosive performance against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night.

It stands to reason Jones wants to start to try and keep the Giants in contention for the division title. But Judge and Co. do not want to risk endangering the long-term health of their franchise quarterback.

Colt McCoy will likely start against the Browns in the event Jones cannot go, though Jones is going to do everything in his power to take the field on Sunday night.
