New York Giants star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has continued to make significant progress in his recovery from a surgically-repaired ankle in the weeks ahead of the  2018 season.

If there were any doubts about his physical explosiveness on the field, Detriot Lions Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay erased them by stating that the 25-year-old looks to be back where he left off prior to the injury, according to Matt Lombardo of NJ.com.

“He looks like he's going,” Slay said, when asked how Beckham looks at this stage of his recovery. “He's catching the rock, and running the rock.

“He's always been explosive. He's never going to lose that, except when he turns 50, I suppose. But, he's always been explosive. Other than that, he's Odell. That's just it.”

These comments come from one of the league's top cornerbacks (Slay was First-Team All-Pro in 2017), who has had the opportunity to participate in some joint practices with Beckham. This is quite encouraging for the Giants to hear that their top receiving option is performing at a high level with the same level of burst and speed that he had before suffering the injury last October.

New York is counting on Beckham Jr. to once again step into the clear-cut No.1 receiving option role in the passing game next season. He has proven in his first four years in the league that he's among the top players at his position that has the ability to single-handedly impact the game in a decisive manner.

The Giants will likely take a precautionary approach with handling Beckham Jr.'s health in order to ensure that he's ready to go by Week 1 of the regular season. These next few weeks provide enough time for him to be physically prepared.
