The New York Giants have an abysmal 2-7 record on the season, but some people believe they are better than their record indicates. At least that's what general manager Dave Gettleman says.

During FOX Sports' broadcast of New York's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, they shared an almost unbelievable anecdote from Gettleman:

There's no denying the fact that Gettleman is on the hot seat with the Giants struggling in recent seasons. Not to mention, he hasn't done a remarkable job drafting since he joined the organization in 2018.

In his defense, the Giants are a team that is likely better than their record conveys. Besides their lopsided loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3, New York has remained within striking distance in every game this season.

As a matter of fact, they've had five consecutive games decided by three or fewer points. However, unlike the better teams in the NFL, the Giants just haven't been able to finish games.

While the Daniel Jones-led offense hasn't performed well, the defense has been a pleasant surprise this season. Patrick Graham, the new defensive coordinator of the Giants, has led New York to the 15th-ranked defense heading into Week 10.

In addition, the Giants are tied for the fifth-best run defense in the NFL, allowing only 94.8 rushing yards per game. Still, Gettleman hasn't been able to turn New York into a winning franchise in his short time with the team. Unless the Giants begin getting into the win column more often to finish the season, Gettleman may not be around much longer.

The good news for New York is the team has looked good so far against Philadelphia, running out to a 21-11 lead at the time of writing.
