The New York Giants shocked a lot of people taking Duke quarterback Daniel Jones with the sixth pick and the response from Dave Gettleman might be even more shocking. After drafting Jones Gettleman said it took only three series at the senior bowl to know that he was full blown love.

All this talk came after the Giants put up smoke screen after smoke screen saying they wanted to defense with the sixth pick.

Just because the team took Jones in the first round doesn't mean it's guaranteed he is going to see the field soon. Gettleman has floated the idea that maybe the Giants could do the Green Bay Packers model with how they handled Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre.

“Maybe we’re going to be the Green Bay model where (Aaron) Rodgers sat for three years,” Gettleman told reporters after via the New York Post. “Who knows? It’s one of those deals where it doesn’t make a difference what position it is. You can never have too many good players at one position.”

This seems like a comment to make Eli Manning happy because after watching Manning the last few years there is no way that Gettleman thinks that he can get three more years out of Manning can he?

If Gettleman tries to run Manning out on the field as the starter for three more years there is a good chance that he won't have a job at the end of the run because the Giants won't be winning many games.
