Former New York Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker is currently being prosecuted in Florida on four counts of robbery with a firearm stemming from an incident which also involved Seattle Seahawks safety Quinton Dunbar. The two players are accused of stealing $70,000 worth of cash and jewelry from a party back in May.

The accusations led to Baker's release from the Giants in September after one season with the team and remains to be a free agent today. Baker's situation took on another surprising turn after three of the four men he allegedly victimized recanted their statements, as per The New York Post.

According to ESPN, three men now claim Baker “did not directly or indirectly participate in any robbery or assist in a robbery at the scene or elsewhere” and they did not witness the former Georgia product be involved in any heinous crime with a firearm.

The recent statements made by the witnesses are still being put in question as they previously claimed they were paid off to recant their initial sworn statements against Dunbar which could also be the case in Baker's instance.

The cornerback's exit from Big Blue eventually left a gaping hole on their defensive rotation as the team still failed to find a fitting replacement for him. Giants head coach Joe Judge previously experimented in the position by slotting in the since-released Corey Ballentine, the injured Ryan Lewis, and third-year player Isaac Yiadom in Baker's place to no avail.

DeAndre Baker will potentially be charged with a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison if convicted and proven guilty from the accusations. The next hearing for the case is set on Dec. 2.
