It goes without saying that the New York Giants endured quite a disastrous season in the 2017 campaign. At the center of their debacle were the issues surrounding cornerback Eli Apple.

Issues with teammates and coaches ultimately hindered his performance on the field. According to Herbie Teope of NFL.com, was not shy about expressing his displeasure with how last year played out for him.

“Was I embarrassed? Of course,” Apple told reporters Monday during media availability at the Giants' organized team activities. “Nobody wants to go out the way I went out. I mean, it was all over the place, so of course.”

Apple added that the fresh start has allowed him to approach this season with a whole new mindset.

“I'm just going to fine tune everything,” Apple said. “Come in with a different attitude and just be positive out there on the field and just do everything that I can to make myself better as a player, and everybody else better as a team.”

New York initially selected Apple with the 10th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He enjoyed a solid rookie campaign before all the trouble started last season.

The rough start to the year and key losses to injury deteriorated any camaraderie the team had going into 2017. Apple was the one most affected by it. His uneasy relationship with teammates and coaches ultimately resulted in him starting in just seven games. He was even suspended for the season finale due to what had transpired throughout the course of the year.

Fortunately, it appears Apple and the rest if the Giants' organization is willing to let bygones be bygones. They will certainly need to if New York is to improve on the disastrous mark that they left last season.
