Over the past few weeks, the New York Giants have become consumed with talk centered around the future of star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. It has been the primary topic of conversation around the organization, with trade chatter laying at the forefront of it all.

This was once again the case with Beckham Jr. not participating in Eli Manning's annual offseason workout at the University of Duke last week. According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, Manning voiced on Monday that he had no issue with his teammate not showing up to the workout due to his rehab schedule from a surgically-repaired ankle.

This has quickly been brushed aside as a potential issue, as Beckham Jr. is in fact still recovering from a broken ankle that he suffered last October. He continues to make progress in his rehab, but there is no set date for his return to the field. All of this made participating in Manning's annual workout unnecessary, and simply not realistic.

There is no reason for him to rush given the risk of a potential setback and the amount of time still left this offseason. On top of that, it was a voluntary workout that players don't have to attend if they are unable to do so. This is likely why Manning took no personal strife toward Beckham Jr.'s absence.

Manning has a clear understanding of how important the Pro Bowler's role is in the offense as the key cog as their game-changing talent. This became quite evident Beckham's impact on the team on the field, as Manning and the offense struggled to put points on the board without him this past season. Granted, New York struggled with offensive line play and was already thin at wide receiver, but it is still hard to overlook how vital Beckham Jr. is to New York's success.
