Former New York Giants quarterback and two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning has officially hung up his cleats. The longtime NFL signal caller is now beginning to prepare for life after football. One thing is for certain, though, Manning seems to have absolutely no desire to coach atop the NFL level with his professional playing days now a things of the past.

“I know one thing: I don't want to be an NFL coach,” Manning recently said during a USO Zoom call, per ESPN. “I've seen what our coaches do and the hours they put in, and I enjoy being with my family and enjoy coaching some of their sports teams.”

On the other hand, Manning does plan on staying around the game he loves — just in a much less stressful environment.

“I always really enjoy working with freshmen in high school and getting them to learn how to play quarterback at a higher level,” Manning added. “You see the difference when they come in that first day and leave four days later, and the growth that they've made in that time.”

The 39-year-old Manning infamously spent his entire professional playing career as a member of the Giants, a team that originally selected him with the No. 1 overall pick — by way of the then San Diego Chargers — in the 2004 NFL Draft out of Ole Miss. With the Giants selecting former Duke quarterback Daniel Jones in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Manning called it a career following the conclusion of this past season.
