The New York Giants have gotten off to a rough start in training camp with injuries to their receiving corps. It appears quarterback Eli Manning may already be feeling the effects.

Manning is now getting acquainted with the batch of healthy faces that are available. Matt Lombardo of NJ Advance Media credited him with a nice throw to wide receiver Cody Latimer, even though it fell incomplete:

Eli Manning just now with a really nice deep ball to Cody Latimer, was just out of a diving Latimer’s reach.

It is not often that a quarterback is praised for an incomplete pass. Regardless, those in New York are still doing what they can to be optimistic going into the 2019 NFL season.

The missed play is indicative of the issues that could plague the Giants this year. There is no question that Manning has struggled to find his footing in this offense as of late. Regardless, he has not had much help from his supporting cast. Plays like these in training camp are just another reminder of the offense not always being able to get on the same page.

Although the Giants are confident that Manning will be able to stabilize things under center until quarterback Daniel Jones develops into a starter, there is little for either signal-caller to rely on outside of running back Saquon Barkley. Both players will have their work cut out for them with three of the team's top wideouts expected to be unavailable to start the 2019 campaign.
