The New York Giants decided it was time to part ways with arguably their best player by trading superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns. The move was surprising, to say the least with the team adamant about not trading him after signing him to a historic deal before last season.

Apparently, the move not only surprised the football world but the veteran quarterback that had been playing with Beckham since he was drafted by the Giants back in 2014. Eli Manning recently revealed how he learned about the Beckham trade, and it was quite similar to how the rest of did that day, via Michael Eisen of the team's website.

“I found out just watching TV one night,” he said. “I just came across the (tracker) at the bottom of the screen. Started to get a few texts. That is how I found out. The reaction, I wanted to reach out to him. Odell has been a teammate for five years and has been a friend. These circumstances, you think about the player involved. It is more than just a player; it is someone you have a relationship with. You think more about that person, how they are handling it and that they are OK and doing well with it.”

That would be a shock to anyone, especially the man who was planning on seeing him downfield on a weekly basis next season. Manning, who is on the downside of his career with the team actively looking for his successor, will enter perhaps the last year of his career or at least with the Giants once the 2019 campaign gets underway.

As for Beckham, the superstar wideout moves on to bigger and seemingly better things in Cleveland with the Browns expected to be a serious force to be reckoned with in the AFC. The addition of Beckham makes the Browns' offense a formidable powerhouse as they hope to take another giant leap to contend next season.
