New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning got his first look of Daniel Jones on the practice field on Monday and the impressions so far have been good. Manning said he is impressed with Jones' arm, but most impressed with how he handles himself.

“He throws it well,” Manning said of Jones via 247 Sports.  “(Jones) Is a good kid and is trying to pick up the offense. He has only been here for two weeks. There is a lot going on right now. He is trying to learn the offense, footwork and protections. We have all been there and been rookies that have learned it. He has the right attitude.”

Some quarterbacks around the league don't feel like they need to be a mentor in the quarterback room to other quarterbacks that might replace him but that isn't the case with Manning. Manning has always tried to be a mentor to whoever is in the quarterback room and it won't be any different with Jones. Manning said he isn't going to go out of his way to teach Jones everything, but if Jones asks the questions he is going to answer them and try to help him.

“I think I have been doing that for the last 11 or 12 years,” Manning said when asked if he views himself as a mentor to Jones. “I don’t know exactly when you become a mentor, but when you’ve been in the league longer than any other guy in the room, you should be a mentor in that sense where you know a little bit more….It is a little bit on Daniel to be in there asking questions and everyone willing to help out in those situations.”

This should help make the transition smooth when it needs to happen. Manning knows he can't play forever and being a true Giant through and through, he wants to see the team succeed, even after he is gone.
