The 2020 NFL season will be one filled with massive changes for the New York Giants, seeing as their longtime quarterback Eli Manning retired in January, and the team hired former foe, Jason Garrett, as the team’s offensive coordinator during the offseason.

Manning faced off many times against Garrett when the NFL lifer was first the offensive coordinator then the head coach of the Cowboys after taking over on an interim basis. For 10 years, Garrett held that prestigious job, but he was fired in January. Now, with Joe Judge as the Giants’ head coach, Garrett will be the OC and Giants legend Manning has some thoughts on the new coordinator:

“I have competed against Coach Garrett and his teams most of my career and have a great respect for him and as an offensive mind and a Jersey guy,” Manning said during a SiriusXM Radio interview on Monday. “I think he’ll do a wonderful job. And Coach Judge will get the team going back in the right direction. I think they’re headed in the right way.”

The Cowboys produced an impressive record of 85-67 during Garrett’s tenure with the team, but they only made the playoffs three times – a dispiriting total for a team that was dynastic in the 1990s – never making it past the first round in those appearances.

Of course, Manning is likely glad he doesn’t have to play against Garrett anymore with the Giants, as  New York went a measly 6-13 against the Cowboys during Garrett’s lengthy tenure with the team.
