New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning could return for a 17th NFL season in 2020.

ESPN's Sal Paolantonio (via Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio) broke the news on April 25.

Sal Paolantonio of ESPN reports that Giants quarterback Eli Manning intends to play ‘somewhere' in 2020.

That ‘somewhere' may not be New York. He's in the last year of his contract, and the Giants may not offer him a new one. The question then becomes whether he'd be willing to play somewhere else.

Some believe Eli wants to spend his entire career with one team. Even if he's willing to move, he needs to find a willing employer. And that may not be easy to do.

The 38-year-old Manning enters the final year of a four-year, $84 million contract extension he signed on September 11, 2015. While his 2020 NFL season remains murky, the Giants remain committed to him for the upcoming season, per ESPN's Dan Graziano.

Sources said the Giants at this time expect to keep their two-time Super Bowl MVP quarterback on the roster through that deadline and start him at quarterback for one more season.

‘He's what we have at this point,' one Giants source said Wednesday.

The Giants do, according to the sources, acknowledge the need to address the issue of Manning's successor at some point soon.

Big Blue will select sixth overall in the 2019 NFL Draft on Thursday. Will general manager Dave Gettleman and Co. select Manning's successor? Names which come to mind include Ohio State Buccaneers' quarterback Dwayne Haskins and Missouri Tigers signal-caller Drew Lock.

Manning is in the twilight of his storied career. For Giants fans, it's unimaginable seeing him wearing a different uniform. But then again, the thought previously applied to former New York wide receiver Odell Beckham, Jr.

Will Eli Manning play somewhere else in 2020? Stay tuned.
