The New York Giants are reliant upon Evan Engram to be a cornerstone in their offense. With this in mind, Engram believes he could be the best tight end in the NFL.

Per Steve Serby in the New York Post:

“I’m not coming out saying I’m better than everybody else, I’m coming out saying that the way I work and the standards I want to hold myself to each and every day, that’s gonna push me to that point.

“It’s cocky when you say, ‘Oh, I’m better than that guy’ or ‘I do more than that guy.’ There’s a lot of talented tight ends in this league that do a lot of different things.

“I think when you put it as, ‘That’s the way I work, that’s the way I approach the game,’ and approach the player I want to be for my team, there’s nothing wrong with that.”

Back in 2017, Engram was selected by the Giants with the 23rd overall pick in the draft. When they took the Ole Miss product, New York was hoping to get a receiving threat at the tight end position.

Prior to this season, the pass-catching tight end combined for 109 receptions, 1,299 yards, and nine touchdowns in his first two seasons in the NFL. Then, in Week 1, Engram looked like he was the best option for Eli Manning in the passing game.

The third-year tight end finished the game against the Dallas Cowboys with 11 receptions for 116 yards and a touchdown. Despite the loss, New York should be ecstatic to see the development of Engram in their offense.

Earlier this offseason, the Giants traded Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns. As a result, the door opened for Engram to become a go-to option in New York's aerial attack.

With that being said, Engram could continue his ascension to the NFL's best tight end—with more opportunities.
