The New York Giants are getting set to host the Green Bay Packers in Week 13. Unfortunately, it appears they will be severely shorthanded on offense.

Tight end Evan Engram and wide receiver Golden Tate found themselves in concussion protocol this week. It seems they are among the notable players that have now been officially ruled out versus the Packers, via Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News:

Giants say Evan Engram, Rhett Ellison, Golden Tate and Jabrill Peppers are OUT Sunday.

The absence of both Engram and Tate undoubtedly deals a crushing blow to the offense as it leaves quarterback Daniel Jones without his two best pass-catchers. Jones has become accustomed to having a shorthanded receiving corps to work with at his disposal. Regardless, there is no question that the lack of supporting cast has forced him to endure his fair share of struggle as a rookie.

Engram has dealt with injuries throughout the course of the 2019 NFL season. He had been sidelined with a foot injury in recent weeks. It appears New York will opt to take a cautious approach with his recovery. With Rhett Ellison also out with a concussion, this opens the door for Kaden Smith and Scott Simonson to take on an increased role at tight end.

Meanwhile, Tate has proven to be quite the offseason addition when healthy. He has served as somewhat of a safety net for Jones since making his season debut. The rookie will now have to make do with the other options on offense if the Giants hope to keep up with the Packers.
