The New York Giants have dealt with their fair share of noise going into the 2019 NFL season. Regardless, all that has transpired this offseason has only led to high expectations for tight end Evan Engram.

Engram has become an integral part of the offense since his arrival. According to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, he is poised for a breakout year.

The Giants' passing game is going to revolve around the tight ends and Saquon Barkley, especially early in the season with Eli Manning as the starting quarterback. That bodes well for Engram, who was second among all tight ends with 320 receiving yards over the final four weeks of last season when he was finally healthy. If he can remain healthy, Engram is going to be the Giants' big-play receiver with Beckham Jr. no longer on the roster. They're planning on Engram playing a massive role. That's why they've kept him in bubble wrap most of the summer.

The Giants made quite the investment in Engram when they took him with the 23rd overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He has since emerged into one of the most promising, young tight ends in the NFL and it seems that Giants will be looking to take full advantage of it this year.

The one knock on Engram thus far has been his durability. The 25-year-old has missed six games due to injury through his first two seasons. Regardless, he has been quite effective when healthy.

Engram finished the 2018 campaign with 45 receptions for 577 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. The bulk of his production came down the final stretch while wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr was sidelined with a quad injury. With Beckham gone, he is now poised to serve as the safety net for quarterback Eli Manning in the passing game.
