New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley has been activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list after a couple of false positive tests. However, the news is not all positive.

The Giants also announced that Barkley will still be held out Week 9 vs the Las Vegas Raiders. As noted by ESPN Staff Writer Jordan Raanan, “He will miss another game in part because the false positives limited his opportunities to get on the field this week.”

Saquon Barkley has missed the last 3 games due to an ankle injury. Barkley injured his ankle during the Week 5 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The injury news is not all bad for New York though.

Wide receiver Kenny Golladay looks like he will suit up for the first time in almost a month. Golladay has been dealing with a knee injury he also sustained Week 5. He practiced Thursday and Friday and has hopes of playing, “I feel like I'm doing pretty good… I would like to [play]. Depends on how my body responds from a couple days back to back.”

It has been a tumultuous week for the Giants, as multiple people have been on and off the COVID list. Among the 13 people who tested positive on Tuesday, it's reported that 12 of them were false positives.

The Giants have their bye week coming up following this game vs the Raiders. So, it makes a lot of sense to hold Barkley out this week. It allows him two extra weeks to heal up and be ready to go.

They will need his services though in Week 11, as the Giants travel to Tampa Bay.
