Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was very critical of the way the New York Giants handled his trade this offseason, but general manager Dave Gettleman isn't quite sure why.

Beckham told GQ earlier this offseason that he was disappointed that the Giants couldn't sit him down face to face and talk with him about what was happening rather than just trading him away.

Gettleman sat down with Jonathan Jones of Sports Illustrated to talk about all things Giants including the Beckham trade and said he isn't quite sure why Beckham is so upset because he feels he handled it professionally.

“Here’s what I’d say,” Gettleman says. “I handled it professionally and with complete respect. What more can I do?”

“I can’t be responsible for the way people characterize things that happened. Because you know what? It’s the way they saw it. It’s what they feel. You can’t argue with emotions.”

Beckham was in London when he was traded from the Giants to the Browns, so it was pretty hard to have a sit-down conversation. When the two sides agreed on a deal, neither team wants to wait to get the pen to paper because there is always a chance the other side could decide to pull out of the deal.

Gettleman has gotten a ton of heat for some of his moves with the Giants, including his trade with the Browns, but he isn't too concerned about what others think.
