The entire world was in mourning after the tragic passing of former Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant and eight other victims back in January. Seven months later, the public was shaken as another Black icon in Chadwick Boseman succumbed to colon cancer at the age of 43. New York Giants wide receiver Golden Tate has paid tribute to the two personalities.

Tate personalized his cleats ahead of their Week 2 matchup against the Chicago Bears via a post on Twitter:

Kobe Bryant served as a huge inspiration for many athletes around the world across all sports, including Golden Tate. Bryant's career on the court turned out to be a well-written story as he became an NBA Most Valuable Player, 18-time All-Star, and a five-time NBA Champion by the end of his 20-year playing career.

The Philadelphia native took many professional players under his mentorship and showed the world the importance of grit and perseverance through his famed Mamba Mentality. He also showed commitment towards advancing the game of basketball especially for the women and the youth ballers.

On the other hand, Chadwick Boseman achieved international fame for playing superhero Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe from 2016 to 2019. He appeared in four films and garnered several prestigious awards for the role.

Their immeasurable impact on the Black community made their deaths a huge loss for the people especially amidst the ongoing Black Lives Matter movement in American society. Hopefully, the younger generation will set their lives as an inspiration to make positive changes for their respective communities in their own ways.
