After delivering a devastating hit to Washington Football Team quarterback Kyle Allen, Jabrill Peppers appeared sympathetic following the New York Giants' outing in Week 9.

As the final minutes of the the first quarter drew to a close, Peppers delivered an off-balanced leg tackle to Allen, which resulted in the gruesome leg injury. Many pundits compared the injury to that of Dallas Cowboys Dak Prescott, which could suggest that Allen is looking at a similar timeline in terms of recovery. It was reported, however, that Allen suffered a dislocated ankle with a small fracture. That diagnosis could change shortly upon Allen's ankle going through further observation.

Allen completed five of his seven passes for 62 yards before exiting his game with the ankle injury. Even upon review of the play, it would appear that Peppers didn't intentionally land on Allen's ankle, giving light to his statement on being apologetic. Allen started in all four of his games he played this season. Prior to Week 9, the third-year field general had completed 68.8 of his passes for 548 yards and four touchdowns.

With Allen sidelined, Alex Smith was inserted for the remainder of play on Sunday. He completed 24 of his 32 passes for 325 yards, resulting in one touchdown. His play also entailed an interception as well, helping hand the Giants their second win of the season. With Smith not being a stellar backup option to Allen, many spectators and fans will surely call on Washington to move Dwayne Haskins back into the starting lineup ahead of Week 10 against the Detroit Lions.
