The New York Giants infamously traded away Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns earlier in the offseason. With Beckham Jr. making his way from East Rutherford to Cleveland, former Browns defensive back Jabrill Peppers is now a member of the Giants.

Despite being coveted by the Giants, Jabrill Peppers does not feel respected after being shipped out of Cleveland en route to East Rutherford.

“Nah … definitely not, definitely not,” Peppers told Yahoo! Sports last week. “But at the end of the day man, I don’t need that to put that chip on my shoulder. That chip’s already on my shoulder. Now, it definitely adds fuel to the fire but the fire’s already been lit.”

Nonetheless, the up-and-coming defender remains ready to continue to hone his craft. Gearing up for his third NFL season, the former Browns defensive back is one of the more versatile players in the league.

“[Before that] I was just naturally [playing] based off my understanding of football — I felt like I didn’t have to work because I was getting over,” Peppers recently added, via Yahoo! Sports. “But now when you’re not getting over, you’re not the most athletic guy on the field anymore, you’re not the fastest, you’re not the quickest, those things [like studying] are what’s going to bring it over the top.”

Unfortunately for Peppers and the rest of the Giants roster, New York is not expected to compete at a very high level in 2019.
