There are a lot of people who have lost faith in New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning but one guy who still thinks he can play at a very high level is San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan. On a conference call with reporters on Thursday Shanahan threw the praise at Manning saying he has watched tape on Manning this year and the tape shows that he can still get it done.

“We’re preparing for Eli Manning. I understand the stuff he’s going through this year, but Eli can still play at a very high level,” Shanahan said via Giants Wire. “He can still make every throw, he’s had a Hall of Fame career, and I know he can still get it done and he’s put it on tape this year. I know they haven’t totally found their rhythm offensively, but there’s times where they can heat up and if you don’t make Eli uncomfortable and get their rhythm off, he still has the capability of being Eli, making every single throw and putting up a lot of points and a lot of yards.”

The biggest question about Shanahan's comments is just how much does he believe them. No coach is ever going to say an opponents quarterback is terrible so it's really not much of a surprise to hear these comments come out of Shanahan's mouth.

On the season Manning has thrown for 2,377 yards, eight touchdowns, and six interceptions. He leads a Giants offense that has trouble moving the ball at all, even with a first-round running back. The Giants and 49ers will meet up on Monday Night Football and maybe Manning will be able to show just how good of a quarterback he is.
