After a dramatic and traumatizing week, New York Giants safety Logan Ryan was able to find a shed of light in a 23-20 victory over the Washington Football Team on Sunday.

Ryan went on to dedicate the overcoming win to his wife, Ashley Ryan, who was in danger of losing her life last week due to some frightening abdominal pains that turned out to be the result of an ectopic pregnancy.

When Ashley described her pains to Ryan earlier last week, the safety went on to seek advice from Giants trainer Justin Maher, who has been with the team since 2010. Maher suggested that Ashley head for an emergency room immediately, which resulted in doctors being able to act quickly with an emergency surgery on Wednesday morning. If not for Maher's advice, Ashley could've suffered internal bleeding that would have been fatal.

After consulting with head coach Joe Judge regarding the serious matter, Judge informed Ryan to head home in order to be with his wife during such a crucial time in her life. The couple wasn't even aware that Ashley was pregnant at the time, which added another turn to Ryan's circumstances.

Though he got approval from Judge, Ryan decided that it was best if he stay put with the team.

“…I’ve known Logan for some time,” the Giants coach shared, per the New York Post. “He’s a tremendous family man. But for any player in our locker room that has a similar situation, it’s always going to be, put your family first.”

Following the victory over Washington, Logan Ryan will likely go home to be with his wife at some point throughout the week.
