The New York Giants brought Jason Garrett in to interview for the team's offensive coordinator position on Wednesday. It didn't take long for him to accept the job. According to Ed Werder, New York has hired Garrett as the franchise's next offensive coordinator.

The Dallas Cowboys decided to move on from Garrett as their head coach after he spent 10 seasons at the position. Garrett's contract with the Cowboys expired on Jan. 14th, thus giving him an opportunity to interview for assistant jobs.

Of course, the Giants already hired Joe Judge to become the team's new head coach in 2020. Therefore, Judge needs to begin assembling the coaching staff that he wants to have in his first season.

Before Judge was hired by New York, it was rumored that the Giants could consider Garrett at head coach. Instead, Garrett will assume the role of offensive coordinator for New York next season on Judge's coaching staff.

Without a doubt, the choice to hire Garrett at offensive coordinator likely won't be received well by fans in the Big Apple. That is due to how Garrett's tenure as the Cowboys' head coach came to a close in 2019.

With the Cowboys, Garrett combined for an 85-67 record in the regular season. In addition, he made the playoffs in only three of his 10 seasons and won two of the five games he coached in.

As a former NFL quarterback, Garrett is known to be an offensive-minded coach and had a hand in Dallas' offense over the years. Despite fans likely being skeptical with the choice, they're hoping that Garrett is a pleasant surprise as offensive coordinator in 2020.
