The New York Giants are in for a tough, post-NFL bye week assignment against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 11. The Giants know a thing or two about slowing down Tom Brady. However the New York defense just got hit with a massive setback ahead of their matchup against the Buccaneers on Monday Night Football.

One of the leaders of the Giants on the defensive side of the ball, converted safety Logan Ryan helped cement New York's unit as one of the better pass defenses in the NFL last season, though they've taken a step back in that department, having allowed the 11th-most touchdown passes so far in 2021.

Ryan held his own in the back end of the secondary playing a new position, as his strong play in 2020 earned him a new, three-year contract extension.

The Giants have had a run-in with a false positive test this season, though that doesn't appear to be the case with Ryan. It's tough to lose a player like Ryan, who is familiar with Tom Brady, ahead of a matchup against Tampa Bay.

The Buccaneers have injuries and absences of their own, but they're still an intimidating opponent no matter who is catching passes from Brady, who just so happens to lead the NFL in passing scores.

Already looked at as heavy underdogs, the Giants will have even more of an uphill battle against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers without defensive leader Logan Ryan in the lineup.
