The New York Giants are in need of a quarterback, and the general consensus is that the Giants will take Dwayne Haskins with the sixth overall pick of the first round of the NFL Draft later this month.

But what if Haskins is off the board by that point, which could potentially cause New York to punt and wait until one of its later picks before grabbing a signal-caller?

That's why the Giants will be using one of their local prospect visits on Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.

Remember: McSorley played with Saquon Barkley, and Barkley has spoke glowingly of McSorley, so you have to wonder if that is playing a role in New York showing some interest in the kid.

Plus, the Giants have said they value a quarterback who has some mobility, and that is definitely McSorley.

“I really value a guy that can move around,” Shurmur said earlier this offseason, per Dan Schneier of 247 Sports. “It doesn’t mean he’s a runner. It just means he has a way to clean his feet in the pocket and scramble if necessary. That mobility is important. I think it’s essential, really, for a quarterback to have great success.”

McSorley is coming off of a senior campaign in which he threw for 2,530 yards, 18 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 53.2 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 124.6. He also rushed for 798 yards and 12 scores.

The Giants won just five games in 2018 and have made the playoffs just once since last winning the Super Bowl during the 2011-12 campaign.
